Issue 11 2025
Message from the Principal
Kaya Carramar families
Welcome to Term 3 and a very special welcome to our new students and families. We also welcome Mrs Amanda Johnson to our teaching staff, working in S3 and Room 3 on Mondays and Thursdays.
Our Term 2 ended with an excellent demonstration from the students, of their growing awareness and knowledge of the unique and rich cultural histories, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples at our NAIDOC Week assembly. It was a wonderful way to end the Term. Thank you to Mrs McLeish for coordinating arrangements.
In Pre Primary, each child painted on a circle of wood. These were then attached to Dilert the Blue Tongue Lizard, to form his scales. Dilert is the name of the Block where the Pre-Primary classes are.

Term 3 has started very well with all classes settled and busily engaged in their learning. It was lovely to see our Year 1's celebrate 100 days of school in different ways yesterday.

At our recent School Development Day, staff reviewed the Positive Climate for Learning pillar of our School Business Plan. Our whole school commitment to creating a school environment that promotes respectful behaviours to support positive engagement in learning: what respectful behaviours mean for staff, for our students and our parents and how we can all demonstrate Respect in our daily actions with each other. All staff individually nominated 10 behaviours they believed contributed to positive respectful engagement in learning. From these, 10 common Engagement Norms have been selected, and these have been communicated to the students. Thank you for supporting our children to demonstrate these behaviours and helping us create a positive respectful school community.

The recent Makaru rains have certainly filled our reservoirs and given our lawns and gardens a good watering. The ground is ready for our new trees and smaller plants, kindly donated by the City of Wanneroo as part of our commitment to National Tree Day. The larger trees will be planted along the fence line between the school and the oval to provide additional shade, and the smaller ones will provide understory coverage. Thank you to Peter, our gardener, for assisting with this project

It is fantastic to see our lovely Winter Uniforms being well used on these chilly mornings, they look great! Thank you to Andrea, our Uniform Coordinator, for keeping our uniform stocks up and to all parents for ensuring students are dressed in accordance with our Student Dress Code, which can be found on our website: https://www.carramarps.wa.edu.au/pdf/policies_dresscode.pdf
Many of our uniforms transformed to Superheroes on Friday for our Superhero Walkathon Fundraiser, and what an array of Superheroes we had! Thank you to everyone for your support, especially our dedicated and hard-working P & C. The Pancakes for morning Tea were welcomed comfort food, especially with the freeeeezing weather, and the special guests who joined us for the walkathon were a real hit! The whole day was a fantastic reflection of our commitment to community support. See picture elsewhere in the newsletter.
Today is our first day with Program Kaartidijin – Compass and Chronicle. It is a Department’s system to manage student attendance, wellbeing, teacher observations and communication. Please remember, if your child is absent, without an explanation, you will receive an SMS notification to your mobile phone. The SMS messages will now come from a new contact: CarramarPS. Please delete the old number from your devices.
As our Term calendar indicates, we have another very busy term ahead, with our annual Science Week and Book Week, Faction and Interschool Carnivals, and various class incursions and excursions planned. Please keep abreast of communication from your children’s class teachers about various events and mark your diaries so that you can join them in their learning.
We are hoping to have a very special 20th Anniversary Photo taken on Tuesday 12th August, with the whole school, K-6, in the shape of the number 20. Please have a chat to the weather people and request a lovely sunny morning for this date. Further information regarding arrangements will be provided next week.
Whilst it may seem early, planning for 2026 has begun! We are very keen to ascertain our student numbers as this impacts our funding and our staffing. Please check the information at the end of the newsletter and respond to this link which asks you to advise us if your children WILL NOT be returning to Carramar PS in 2026. https://forms.office.com/r/U5g68UDwWC Thank you in advance for providing this information.

In closing, it is with mixed feelings that we say congratulations and farewell Mr Brits, who will be leaving us at the end of Week 4. He is heading to the sunny shores of London to join his wife who has been offered a permanent position, as a lawyer. Mr Brits has been a member of our staff since 2019 and has undertaken many roles in the school throughout this time. I am sure you join with me in wishing Mr Brits and his wife well in their new venture and thank him for his excellent contributions to Carramar Primary over the past 6 years.
Have a great fortnight, keep warm!

NAIDOC
In recognition of NAIDOC Week, the school held celebrations to honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Room 6 Pre-Primary students produced some wonderful artwork using a combination of leaves to showcase their chosen animal. Their creative efforts reflected a shared respect and appreciation for Indigenous heritage.

St John's First Aid Focus
Our students recently participated in the free St John WA First Aid Focus incursion. The First Aid Focus program aims to train and equip students with the skills to assess and respond to first aid situations, while developing strategies to seek help for themselves or others.

Sharing Successes
Congratulations! To the two Saunders sisters, Maddie from Room 13 and Indi from Room 16. Both did very well in their golf tournaments at Lakelands Country Club, with Maddie coming 2nd and Indi coming 1st. Both sisters said that they felt happy, excited, and proud of themselves. You two are golf superstars!

Let’s go!! Emily from Year 3, Room S4 did fabulous in her gymnastics competition, getting first place and winning a very cool medal. She competed for the Jets and did the competition solo. She feels extremely happy and surprised with her results. Hopefully you can win some more competitions Emily!

Ryder year 3, who got awarded by the opposition player of the game for Joondalup Kinross Jets. He kicked 3 goals and some strong marks in horrible conditions on Sunday.
