Message from the Principal
Kaya Carramar Families
Welcome to our final week for Semester 1.
It is hard to believe that our Pre-Primary to Year 6 students have been engaged in learning for nearly 100 days. (and our Kindergarten students have tallied up close to 50) Thank you parents, carers and extended family for the manner in which you have supported all learning opportunities for your children, including the many events that our P & C and Student Leaders have coordinated. Thank you also to our Playgroup Coordinator, Hollie Hawtin, (and team) for the great work you have done with our future CPS students each Monday morning in your very engaging sessions.
Playgroup
Our recent Disco, coordinated by our hard working P & C, and our Pyjama Day, coordinated by our Student Leaders were both wonderful successes. Everyone looked great at the Discos and DJs Jordan and Dobbs kept the dancers moving and grooving throughout each session. Last Friday the students (and staff) looked very snug and comfortable in their warm pyjamas (and oodies) in that very chilly weather. Thank you for your support. We raised $670.00 for the Pyjama Foundation.
Pyjama Day
Thank you to everyone who has finalised payment for In-Term Swimming. We acknowledge that finances are tight for everyone and encourage you to contact the school to arrange payment options if necessary. To assist the Swimming Venues with their staffing requirements, information relating to your child’s Swimming Levels is required urgently. Thank you for sending it through ASAP, if you haven’t already done so. Please contact the office if you have misplaced this information.
This week we celebrate NAIDOC Week. NAIDOC stands for National Aboriginals and Islanders Day Observance Committee. This year’s theme is 'For Our Elders', and encourages us to ensure our young people are learning from our Elders' knowledge and perspectives, and that these continue to be passed down through generations to come.
Today, as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, our students took part in a Gallery Walk in the Performing Arts Centre. Each class/cohort was tasked with creating a piece of work that reflected their learning from the Yirra Yaakin Incursion, “Lingo Lah Lah”, that the whole school attended earlier in the term. The performance incorporated Noongar Language, and important lessons about kindness, acceptance, friendship, and the power of words. The work displayed was a credit to all.
On Friday, to culminate NAIDOC Week, our City of Wanneroo (CoW) Project Team will be hosting the NAIDOC Assembly. We have a number of special guests attending and each cohort will share a brief summary of the learning they have done throughout this week. During the assembly the unveiling of the latest addition to Koolungas Mia Kaartijin, will take place. Thank you to Mrs Block, Nanna Pat, Tara, from Joseph Banks Secondary College, and Mr and Mrs West for supporting our CoW students with this year’s project. We are looking forward to seeing your wonderful work!
Semester 1 Reports go out this week. Our Kindergarten students’ reports will be presented in a new format and will be going home on Friday – please check your child’s bag. Reports for Pre-Primary – Year 6 will be sent out via Connect on Thursday 29th June – please ensure that you have Connect set up. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the front office. Thank you for taking the time to discuss your child’s Semester 1 Report with them – it is most important.
Enjoy the holiday break. Travel safe on the roads and enjoy time with family and friends.
School resumes for students on Tuesday 18th July. We look forward to another wonderful semester.

Carramar Rescuers
Thank you and congratulations to a group of Carramar Animal Carers for their wonderful support in finding and helping a lost pet,Tee-Jay, this morning. The boys did a great job in firstly identifying the bird that they had seen on various posters around the community, then contacting the owner to check if the bird they had seen, was in fact the missing Tee-Jay, then carefully capturing Tee Jay and popping him in a box wrapped in one of their jumpers!. Well done boys. I'm sure Tee Jay and his owner will be very happy.

Year 2 Play in the Past Incursion
The Year 2's enjoyed their play in the past incursion where they got to experience technology from the olden days.
The students in S2 wanted to say a special thank you to our host, Nicola in an "old-fashioned" way, so they wrote and posted letters of thanks.
They were really surprised at how long letters take when posted traditionally through the post!
A couple of weeks later, they were thrilled to receive a telegram response, delivered specially to our school.
P&C Chat
Who had an amazing time at our P&C whole school disco? We certainly did! The students seemed to thoroughly enjoy coming out and making a splash on the dance floor as well as playing some well organised games care of DJ Jordan and DJ Dobbs. I've heard the Guest Appearance of one famous Mrs Dobbs was a true hit.
The night was miserable, cold and wet but there were so many delightful smiles from the students that the P&C members who were serving the sausage sizzles were left feeling warm and fuzzy..... although I think we did leave with icicles for toes. Thank you to absolutely everyone who arrived at school early to cut bread rolls, set up the equipment and decorations and setting up the food area. Thank you to our lovely canteen for serving after hours and keeping the healthy treats flowing. Thank you Nunnu and Darren for cooking for the masses. And thank you to the tireless P&C members and their mini's for everything between, around and on top of!
The Interschool Cross Country stall was a hit. The Bacon Burgers were delicious and the cakes were decadent. I know we say this a LOT, but we truly mean it.... thank you to the volunteers who set up, cooled and ran the stall. Your time and energy is appreciated by all.
Let’s talk TEA-TOWELS. We have extended the date until THURSDAY 29th June. That's THIS THURSDAY! Get your orders in nice and quickly for your gorgeous keepsake tea-towels.
Coming up for Term 3 we have our amazing Fathers Day stall as well as an incredibly exciting Fathers Day Raffle. The stall will be held on the 31st August and 1st of September. Notes will be distributed prior to the date.
Calling all bakers, burger flippers and strong women and men! Our Carramar Faction Carnival will be held on the 25th August. The P&C will be filling spectators tummies as well as providing pre-ordered lunch for the superstar students. We will need PLENTY of volunteers on the day so please start considering giving an hour or two of your day.
Enjoy your break and we look forward to an exciting term ahead.
