Issue 1 2025
Message from the Principal
Kaya Carramar Families
We have had an awesome start to the 2025 school year, even with that very toasty Bunuru weather last week! Well done to everyone for coping and staying well hydrated. Whilst it is nice to be enjoying some respite, we do have some more hot days forecast for later this week, and thereafter.
It was very special to have our whole school, Kindergarten to Year 6, starting on the same day, with close to 560 students, looking fantastic in their school uniforms. It is wonderful to see all classes settled and ready to start learning promptly at 8.40am. Our morning sessions are especially important, and the prompt arrival of the children is vital to ensure their day begins smoothly. Thank you for your support in getting your children to school on time each day.

Our graduating 6 students also had their first day at their new schools last week and it was wonderful to see the smiling faces on photos which were shared.

At our Welcome Assembly last Friday our Year 1-6 classes discussed how we can support each other to achieve our Expectations and work together cooperatively to be Carramar Stars. It has been most pleasing to see our students being Respectful, Responsible and Safe Learners. We look forward to working in partnership with our families and seeing our Expectations being demonstrated each, and every day by our whole school community. Thank you in advance for supporting us to be the great school that we know we can be.

Today is Safer Internet Day, a Global Day of Action dedicated to raising awareness of online safety. This year's theme, 'Together, for a better internet', is very relevant, with debates around digital identities, social media bans, and protecting the most vulnerable.
Students in Year 3 – 6 have participated in lessons and webinars about staying safe when online: focusing on how to safely navigate the online world by protecting themselves and contributing to a positive culture.
Whilst our staff continue to educate our students about online safety risks, how to be safe online and where to go for help, it is vital that we work together to support our children. Please utilise services and information to support you and your children with this very important aspect of their lives: https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents I strongly encourage all parents to check in daily with your children, if they have access to online activities, to ensure they are engaging in safe and respectful online behaviour. Together we can make every day a Safer Internet Day.

Thank you for modelling safe road practices and keeping all members of our community safe, by observing and adhering to all signage pertaining to Road Safety around the school perimeter. We are a large school with many pedestrians, babies in prams, cyclists, scooters, and cars moving in peak periods.
We are most fortunate to have our Traffic Warden, with us again this year and are very grateful for his assistance in getting our families to and from school safely every day at the Millendon crossing.
Our local rangers regularly patrol our perimeter at peak times, monitoring speed limits and correct parking. Please note: the crossovers near Kiss and Drive on Houghton Drive and the ECE gates on Millendon ARE NOT designated parking / drop off or collection areas. Please be mindful of this and make alternative arrangement to collect your children more safely. Similarly, please DO NOT park in or walk children through the Admin carpark off Houghton Drive. Please use the Millendon St gate or the OSH entrance. Thank you for your support with these safe practices.
Our School Board is integral in working with our school community to achieve the best outcomes for our students. Board Members have a very important role in contributing to school governance to ensure our school resources are used efficiently, and community expectations and the school’s priorities reflect the needs of our students. We are very grateful of the time that our School Board members volunteer in their role and currently have 3 positions available, to commence this term. If you are interested in taking up a position as Parent Representative on our School Board. Please complete the attached nomination form and return it to the school office by Friday 21st February. If you require further information on the role, please do not hesitate in contacting me. I look forward to hearing from you.
I look forward to seeing many of you at our Welcome Assembly tomorrow morning in the Performing Arts Centre 8.45-9.30am. This is an opportunity to connect with each other and meet new parents and will provide insight into the direction of our current Business Plan, our whole school Expectations and routines, and key events planned for 2025.
Our Term 1 Planner, 2025 Staff Structure and School Day structure has been included in this newsletter, and I encourage you to visit our website for additional information about our school: https://www.carramarps.wa.edu.au/
Have a wonderful fortnight.

Welcome to 2025. The P&C are BACK and we are so excited to be planning events for this year. If you are new to the school, you may wonder what the P&C is and what we do. P&C stands for Parents and Citizens. We are a group of Parents and Citizens from the Carramar Primary School community and our purpose is to assist the school, promote interest of the community and fundraise for the school.
