Message from the Principal

Kaya Carramar Families
Another awesome year at Carramar Primary has all but come to an end, and what a wonderful year it has been. Our recent Celebration and Graduation Assemblies provided time to reflect on what we have achieved, both individually and as a whole school, to honour those who excelled, and say to thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. The shared sense of enthusiasm we have for all that we do and the way in which we come together as a community makes our school very special! Congratulations to all students who received awards, to our new Student Leadership Team and our Head Boy and Head Girl, Johnson and Hayley. Please see details of award winners elsewhere in the newsletter.

To our graduating Year 6 students, I know I speak on behalf of all the Carramar Primary staff when I say – “good luck and enjoy the journey ahead”. Your primary school journey might be coming to an end, but the adventure of high school life is the beginning of a new chapter. The lessons you've learned here at Carramar, or your other schools will be your compass, guiding you through the exciting challenges that await. As you embark on this next chapter, remember the friendships you've built and the knowledge you've gained. Carry with you the spirit of curiosity, the willingness to learn, and the courage to face the unknown. High school life, and the years beyond, will present you with new tests and new experiences. I hope you approach them with the same determination that got you through your 8 years of primary school. To the parents and carers of our graduands od 2024, I acknowledge the emotions of a child graduating from primary school, and for some of, this year is your final connection to Carramar –– thank you for your unwavering support - I am sure your support of your children will continue as they embark on their new chapter
Congratulations, Class of 2024! Good luck on your next chapter - I look forward to seeing and hearing about the incredible individuals you will become. I hope all your chapters have awesome endings and life is forever in your favour.

As our year ends, I would like to acknowledge our wonderful students and staff for all that they do. Special thanks to our outgoing Student Leadership Team; Student Ministers, City of Wanneroo Leaders, Factions Leaders Music Leaders, Library Leaders and Technicians with a special thanks to our Head Boy and Girl: Owen and Leigh- Anne. Thank you all for the way you have undertaken your leadership duties, throughout the year under the guidance of Mrs Block, Mr Malatios, Mr Cox, Mrs Malinovic, Mr Walton and Mrs Gordon.
To our School Board led by Mr Alex Dunster, thank you for volunteering your time, and for your ongoing support and for providing sound governance for our school.
To our P & C, led by Mrs West, with great support from her team, thank you for your tireless efforts in promoting our school and creating wonderful opportunities for us to come together and raise funds to ensure our students have access to many wonderful resources and facilities that enrich their learning. And to Andrea, our Uniform Shop Coordinator, a very big thank you for ensuring we always look great.
To our Playgroup Coordinator Lynsey : sincere thanks to you and your and her team and for taking on the role – and for the wonderful work you have done with our future Carramar Stars and their families.
An to our wonderful staff, I say every year, how lucky our students and families are and how privileged I feel to work with such a dedicated and committed team of people. Your support of each other is simply amazing and the way you always step up and help is awesome! This includes our regular Relief Staff, be they cleaners, front office, teachers and education assistants, your willingness to answer early morning calls to come in ensure our school continues to tick along smoothly is very much appreciated.
Our cleaning and grounds staff, Peter, Michele and her team, thank you for keeping our school clean and tidy and our grounds looking beautiful.
Chaplain Bonnie: A very special thank you for the wonderful support you continue to provide all members of our school community. We are very grateful to have you with us and thank you for everything your do to support all of us.
School Psychologist Hien Trang; thank you Hien for all the advice and support you provide our teachers and families to guide our students’ positive engagement in school.
Our Front Office Staff: My sincere thanks to Mrs Woodhouse, our new Manager of Corporate Services, and our School Officers, Mrs Martin, Ms Cheverton, and Mrs Beets. They say a school’s front office is the key to what lies beyond. And this is so true at Carramar Primary: welcoming new parents, managing the phones, making awesome toasties for hungry students, helping staff, assisting sick and injured students, nothing is ever too much trouble - we are so very lucky to have such a wonderful front office team.
And finally, to our Admin team, Deputy Principals, Ms Morgan and Ms Delcaro. Your support has been invaluable once again this year, not just to me, but to our students, staff and families. Ms Morgan has not enjoyed the best year from a personal level, and we are hoping that 2025 is kinder to her. And Ms DelCaro ….. well I think she must have a super charged ever ready battery, cos she is everywhere all the time! A very special thank you for all that you do Mishelle, and for willingly stepping in and managing the school in my absence

As we move to the new year, please be advised of some staff changes, this includes staff who will not be with us next year and / or staff taking on different roles.
Miss Dunbar
Jess completed her prac with us last year in Mrs Smith’s Year 1 class and this year has been working with Mrs Robinson in Room 3 - Year 1 on Thursdays and with our Pre-Primary classes on Fridays. She has also provided Relief in various classes across the school. We have loved having Jess as part of our staff this year and hope to see her next year in Semester 2 when she returns from her travels.
Mrs Block
Mrs Block is taking some well-earned leave and is going to enjoy some down time. Sue has been part of our Future Leaders Initiative and has had a key role with the development of our Student Leadership program, including the Student Ministers and the City of Wanneroo (CoW) Student Leadership. I’m not sure who will be wearing all the hats that Sue has been wearing over the past few years, the list is very long ...but I’m sure we will find some heads that will fit. I've no doubt we will see Mrs Block around the school, and we may even see her doing some Relief Work. Thanks for everything you have done in your many roles Sue, please enjoy some down time. But be warned, we will know where to find you if we get stuck or can’t remember how to do things!
The next two teachers have been part of our school for a very long time. Both have won Fixed Term positions at other schools for 2025, and we may or may not see them back at Carramar in 2026, so I would like to take a couple of moments to acknowledge their wonderful contributions to our school.
Mrs Atkinson – currently teaching Year 2 in S1
Rebecca has been part of our staff since 2005…that’s 19 years ago!!!
During this time, she has taught across many year levels and provided great leadership and support to all colleagues. Rebecca has been part of our Future Leaders Initiative and had a key role in our English team working closely with Ms Delcaro in the development of our Phonics Tracking Tool. Her professionalism and willingness to contribute to all aspects of our school has been greatly appreciated. An aspect of Rebecca’s role that I will always remember is the fantastic Reading Buddies that she and Mrs Holden have coordinated over the years. We congratulate Rebecca on her appointment to Year 5/6 at Osborne Primary and wish her all the best.
Mrs Ellis - currently teaching Year 1 in Room 2.
Kerryn has been part of our staff since 2006…that’s 18 years ago!!!
During this time, she has undertaken many roles, starting out as Phys Ed teacher. She has also been part of our Future Leaders Initiative and been a member of various committees. She too has a strong passion in the English learning area and provided great support to our Year 1 and 2 teaching teams. Her willingness to contribute to all aspects of our school, regardless of her role has been greatly appreciated. An aspect of Kerryn’s teaching that I will always remember is her meticulous preparation and detailed records – absolutely outstanding! We congratulate Kerryn on her appointment to Year 3 at Sorrento Primary and wish her all the best.
The next teacher will also not be here next year, and with heavy hearts, we are saying goodbye.
Mrs McCarthy – currently teaching Year 6 Room 14
Lesley has been teaching at Carramar for the past 9 years. When I first came here Lesley was teaching Year 4 in a transportable classroom, that is no longer here. Lesley has also been part of our Future Leaders initiative and had a key role in the review of our teaching of science, and the development of our Science Investigation Planners. More recently Lesley has led our Cooperative Learning program across the school, which has been fantastic!
We are very grateful for all the contributions you have made to teaching and learning at Carramar Lesley and congratulate you on your permanent appointment to Shorehaven Primary as a Specialist Science Teacher. We wish you all the best in your new role at your new school.

Finally...to all parents and caregivers, if it wasn’t for you, there would be no Carramar Stars for us to teach! Thank you for the support you have provided your children this year, for trusting us with them and for giving us the opportunity to work in partnership with you to develop respectful, responsible students of today, who make safe choices and continue to learn to build the world of tomorrow.
My best wishes to you all for a peaceful Christmas and a refreshing and safe holiday.
School resumes for students on Wednesday 5th February.

Please remember to check your child’s bags regarding information about their proposed class placement and teacher/s for 2025. This information was accurate as of Monday 9th December. If changes are required, you will be notified.

Chaplain’s Corner
Kaya Carramar Community,
Can you believe it is the last week of school for 2024!
It has been such a privilege being part of your Carramar journey this year. I feel so humbled that so many of you have welcomed me into this journey. Staff and students and Carramar hold a great big special place in my Chaplaincy Career, and I am so excited for that to continue to flourish in 2025. Thank you to every teacher and staff member for having me in your classrooms this year. Admin staff, I couldn't do my job without you! Thank you for everything you do and support me with. Maree, Melissa and Mishelle, Thank you for always supporting me and trusting me to support families and students Carramar PS. Thank you for listening to all my wild ideas and trusting me to put them into place.
We have had some incredible people and groups from our community supporting our Carramar families this Christmas and throughout the year. I have a huge list of incredible people and organisations to thank, so here goes.
Firstly, a big thankyou to Lorraine from Bam Bam against bullying and abuse for their generous donation of $500 to support families getting their child to next year's Year 6's Camp and contributing towards some of our students' leavers shirts. Their elves have also been so busy wrapping and donated a huge amount of Christmas presents which will be distributed to families in need amongst our school community. They have also provided us with emergency back packs all kitted up ready to go for students in need. Carramar Primary School are so thankful for your support throughout the year. Again, we say thank you 🙂

Thank you to The Grove Church in Banksia Grove. You have supplied us with more recess snacks than I ever thought possible so we can provide recess packs for our students who are in need of one. Your endless support over the years has not gone unseen and I am truly grateful for the support. Also, a big thank you for the large number of Christmas hampers and vouchers you have provided this year. You have been my go-to support. I am excited to see what we can do for our community together in 2025. To add to this, a very kind member of our local community (Not part of the church) has spent hours and hours dividing up the food and making recess packs, then delivering them to our school. Thank you so much! 🙂
Thank you to the church community at Everyday Church in Neerabup. Even though you have only moved into your building last month, your generous donation of a voucher for a family in need was so appreciated and I am excited to see how far your community outreach support goes in 2025.
This year a new community group has supported us called "Love our suburbs" with beautiful Christmas Hampers and have also generously approved a grant for me to attend a course next year which will allow me to me develop and further my education and, allowing me to better support students. We have also been blessed with a delivery of hampers from LOS. How lucky are we! I love our community and suburbs 🙂

Thank you to Woolworths Carramar who has been so supportive and providing food for families in our community doing it tough. You have never said no to me, and I know the families who have been able to access this support have been extremely humbled and thankful.
Thank you again to Oz Harvest who have once again supplied us with weekly food hampers, which have been distributed to our families in our school community. I look forward to teaming up again next year.
Thank you to the Carramar PS P&C. I have been so supported by the P&C the moment I began my Chaplaincy journey here at Carramar PS. Thank you for always being so welcoming and supportive. I love the incredible work you do for our school community and can't wait to see what exciting things the P&C will hold next year.

And finally, oh, here comes the tears. Thank you to my incredible, supportive husband Joel and Kids. I need a tissue! You have stood by my side every week releasing me to attend Year 6 camps and so much more. You help me pick resources up and even stop and chat to any student or staff member we pass by in the shopping centre. Joel, I have lost count of the number of times you have dropped things to me at school or picked the kids up so I could do what I needed to do. To my three kids Landen, Masen and Adalen, you have never said no to dropping a food hamper to a family or collecting something that would support a student. Even on the hard days, allowing me the time to unwind whilst giving all the cuddles. I was so fortunate to have been nominated for the 2024 Community Connection Chaplain of the year award this year, I wouldn't have even been considered for it without your support.

As 2024 comes to an end, I reflect on what has been achieved and lessons learnt, I am reminded of my incredible work and family village I have surrounding me. I am so thankful for my village, my faith and my job as a Chaplain. I encourage you to also take the time to reflect on 2024, at the same time enjoy the time with family and those close to you. Remember its ok to say No during this 'Silly Season" and enjoy the down time.
Have a wonderful Break, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and I will see you in 2025!

We would love to start by saying a massive thank you to the school and school community for a wonderful year. Thank you to those who have stepped in and helped or supported the P&C with any one of the many events and fundraisers we have run this year.
Thank you to Sabine Winton MLP for always supporting the P&C, either in person or via amazing prizes, donated.
Thank you to Peter Parsons from Rize Property for supporting our P&C this year. Peter from Rize donated to the Easter Raffle this year. You will be able to see our shiny and amazing Gazebo at each and every event we are a part of, beginning with the incredible Carols by Carramar.
We have finished the year with a true flourish, in P&C style. We hosted our first Carols by Carramar event, last Friday 6th December. There were market stalls selling amazing gifts for Chris treats for yourself to help to get through this Silly Season. The P&C had everyone sorted for dinner with delicious Sausage Sizzles and drinks on offer. The Carramar Choir led our families in some incredible and fun renditions of our very favourite Carols, directed by the amazing Mrs Malinovic.
And we can't forget the UNBELIEVABLE raffle. If you were stumped for Christmas or struggling to get sorted in time, I hope you had a ticket for our Carramar Christmas Raffle. 30 fantastic prize baskets were raffled off, containing everything you could possibly want for Christmas Day.
