Issue 18 2024
Message from the Principal

Kaya Carramar Families
As we enter our final days of the 2024 school year, our focus is on finishing off the year well. Staff are busy finalising arrangements for end of year events and preparing for the new school year. Our youngest and oldest students have been engaging in transition opportunities in readiness for the next chapter in their schooling. Many of our Pre-Kindy students had their first session in Kindy last week and many of our Year 6 students engaged in transition opportunities at their various High Schools today and over the past few days. We welcome our new students and send best wishes to those who are leaving us at the end of the year.
Our planning for 2025 is well underway. This includes placement of students and staff, both teaching and support, organising the structure of the school and formation of the year cohorts. As previously mentioned, careful consideration goes into the placement of our students. This includes, but is not limited to the following points:
· Student voice –friendship within the same class as appropriate to support strong work ethic.
· Parent voice – social factors that the school may not be aware of
· Staff voice – teacher, support, and specialist staff feedback to ensure cohesive classes.
· Admin voice –consideration of all information including academic, behavioural, and social emotional; students who require additional learning adjustments and support needs
Tomorrow we are having our inaugural Step-Up Hour - 2025 Taster. This will see all K-5 students have the opportunity to work with their ‘proposed’ 2025 classmates and meet their ‘proposed’ 2025 class teacher. Please note this is a “taster”. Good plans sometimes meet hurdles, but we always make adjustments as needed. Fluctuations in numbers, and changes in staffing can require late changes. Nothing is set in concrete, but we are hopeful that this session provides valuable feedback for our planning and becomes an annual arrangement to assist in successful transitions.
Our first Grandparents Day last Friday was a wonderful success. It was lovely to meet some of our Grandparents and hear some of their stories. We look forward to expanding on our Grandparents Day in 2025 and sharing the wonderful contributions they make to our students' learning.

Please see photos in the P & C section.
We are very grateful of the time that our School Board members volunteer in their role and sincerely thank Emile Rensburg for his contributions in providing governance and reviewing the directions of the School Business Plan and evaluating our performance in achieving our priorities over the past year. Unfortunately, due to work commitments, Emile will be resigning from his position. If you are interested in taking up a position as Parent Representative on our School Board in 2025, please complete the attached nomination form and return it to the school office by Friday 6th December.

Thanks in advance for your support of the final P & C Fundraiser: Carols by Carramar for Friday the 6th of December. The weather looks to be perfect! This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together to culminate a very successful year.
Sincere thanks all our families for your support throughout the year and for encouraging our children to always be the best they can be and to demonstrate the Expectations of our wonderful school. It is particularly important that we maintain our high standards and agreed expectations as our school year comes to a close.
Semester 2 Reports will be sent out via CONNECT on Friday, 6th December. Thank you for taking the time to review this important information with your children.
Have a wonderful final few days – I look forward to seeing you all at the various end of year events. Please see Calendar of Events for coming days.

Sharing Successes
Hayley from Year 6 participated in a cheerleading competition for her club West Coast Fury at the Perth Convention Centre which was held on the 3rd of November. Hayley said that she was very proud of herself and her team and can’t wait for her next competition at nationals. Her team (Tidal Wave) came 3rd in their division. We wish Hayley and her team luck for any future competitions they will participate in.

Harlow from Year 3 competed with her talented team, Wildfire, at a cheerleading competition on the 3rd of November at the Perth Convention Centre, for her club West Coast Fury. Harlow and her team came in 2nd place and can’t wait to do it again at nationals. We wish Harlow and her team luck for when they compete at nationals.

A group of Carramar PS students from Schulz Dance Company (SDC) are going to be performing in Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant through the streets of Perth city on Saturday 7th December. Henley from Year 5 said, “He is very excited to perform again and can’t wait to see himself on television!”
Tyler from Pre-Primary went to the Wanneroo Show, on the 16th of November and took out the 2nd place with his blooming cactus and the 3rd place with his stunning miniature knight garden. Tyler said that he loved going with his family and he liked everything he saw and did, especially the rides and games. We hope Tyler and his family had a wonderful time at the Wanneroo Show.

Leigh-Anne recently passed her Grade 5 piano exam with credit at the age of 11. Well done, Leigh-Anne.

P&C Chat
How are we racing so quickly to the end of the year? We hope you have all thoroughly enjoyed the term, so far, and you are excited for the break ahead. As per usual, the P&C won't rest until all the fun that can be had, has been had.
Let us reflect on some of the events of the recent weeks.

White Night Disco. Well.... what a fabulous event. We loved seeing everyone rock up in their crisp white outfits. The students danced up a storm to DJ P's music and came out with huge smiles on their faces. Our Glow Toys were a huge hit and lit up the undercover area beautifully. A massive thank you to Karen from Fairy pop Fun Foods for coming along and selling her delicious treats at the White Night Disco. Thank you, also, to the volunteers who came along to lend a hand. There was set up, supervisors, volunteers at the P&C stand and pack down crew. A huge list of people who gave their time to make the event so much fun.

The Cadbury Chocolate forms went home and have been returned. Thank you to those who have sent their forms in. Every cent raised goes straight back into the school and we appreciate your hard work. Remember, collecting for your chocolates will be MONDAY 2nd DECEMBER, between 2.30pm and 3.30pm by the undercover area.
The P&C host meetings once a term. We held our final 2024 P&C Meeting on the 4th November. If you missed out on the meeting, please remember you are welcome at all meetings. There will be more in the new year.
We were asked to be a part of Grandparents Day celebrations by providing a light morning tea. This was held on the 15th of November. The school is hoping this will be the beginning of a new tradition for our school and we hope so, too. Though only a small group were able to attend, the morning tea was a wonderful event. There were stories shared and reminisced upon. We loved being a part of such a special day. Thank you, again to our team for providing the delicious treats and setting the day up.
