Issue 15 2024
Message from the Principal
Kaya Carramar Families
Welcome to Term 4. A special welcome to our new students and families and those who have re-joined us. Our term has started well, and we certainly welcome the warmer days of this beautiful Kambarang weather, especially our Year 1s who are thoroughly enjoying their first taste of In-Term Swimming.
It is hard to believe that we have less than 50 days of teaching and learning left this year. Our calendar certainly reflects another busy term to wrap up 2024. No doubt the next few weeks will fly by.
Reporting to Parents – End of Semester Report Changes:
Last term Education Minister Buti announced a department-wide initiative to reduce red tape and workload for teachers and school leaders. The Department has worked with the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) to provide clarification of the requirements for end-of-semester reports. As such:
- There is a requirement to provide an overall teacher comment.
- There is no requirement to provide learning area comments.
- There is no requirement to provide grades at the strand or sub-strand level.
- There is no requirement to provide attachments for students with special education needs.
- Reporting for these students aligns with Individual Education Plans as developed with parents.
These changes were tabled to our School Board last term.
Where a school’s end of semester reports currently provide written learning area comments and/or grades at the strand/sub-strand level, as ours do, schools have the option to transition to the above requirements. At our recent School Development Day, we reviewed our current Assessment Schedule and Reporting to Parents Plan. As we transition to the new Report requirements, it is anticipated that our 2024 Semester 2 reports for students in Pre-primary to Year 6 will look somewhat different to the reports you have previously received.
To assist in our Reporting to Parents review, we are seeking your feedback to a survey regarding Student Reports. This will be sent out tomorrow via Connect. Your responses are greatly valued and will help shape our Reporting Plan for Semester 2 2024 and Beyond. Our finalised Reporting Plan will be presented to the School Board and communicated to the school community in coming weeks.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our Dress Code, the revised version of which was sent home last week. The children look fantastic in their uniforms, and we often receive complimentary comments from the community about how smart they look. With the warmer weather upon us, it is most important that the children remember their school hat as we adhere to the No Hat No Play strategy.
We have also recently reviewed our School Wide Positive Behaviour Guidelines and throughout last week, the relevant changes were shared and clarified with the students. The most significant change is the Behaviour Incident Form. We no longer have Red Forms and Yellow Forms. There is one form, and it is White. All behaviour incidents will be recorded on this form. The updated Guidelines will be sent home in coming weeks and attached to the school website.
Our CoW Students (City of Wanneroo Leaders) have been frantically working with Mrs Block and the team from Joseph Banks to get this year’s project completed in readiness for the upcoming showcase. We are all very excited to see the finished piece, which will be displayed on the wall at the end of the office block (Noonakoort Danjoo) near Syd the Snake. This work will provide another piece in the story of Carramar and our links with the Aboriginal ancestors of this area.
Next week, our beautiful library will be taken over by the Book Fair, on Monday - Thursday before and after school. Thank you to our wonderful Library Officer, Tammy Gordon, for her coordination of this annual event, and to staff and parents who have volunteered to provide support. I’ve no doubt the children will be keen to twist your arm and show you some of their favourites. Perhaps some may be added to their Christmas wish list! Your support of our Book Fair is very much appreciated. All proceeds go towards increasing resources in our library.
Thank you to everyone who has advised if your children will be attending Carramar Primary in 2025. This information informs our budget, which in turn informs our Class Structure and Staffing. It is vital that we know your intentions ASAP. To accommodate proposed enrolment numbers and maximise human resources, it will once again be necessary to create some composite classes. When constructing our classes, consideration is given to every child’s academic, social, and behavioural needs. This will be no different for composite classes.
Next week we will commence planning for our 2025 Class Structure. If you wish to provide information about your child/ren that may assist with their class placement for 2025, please do so in writing addressed to me by Wednesday 30th October. Please be aware that we do not consider requests for specific teachers or composite classes.
Thank you for advising the school ASAP if your child/ren WILL NOT BE RETURNING next year.
Friday 25th October is World Teacher’s Day. This is an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge the fantastic work of all our teachers. We are blessed to have such a dedicated staff, who work so hard each and every day to support, nurture, and challenge all our students. If you would like to write a message of thanks to our staff, please collect a template from the office and return by Thursday 24th October. Our staff are very grateful for your support.
Have a wonderful fortnight.

Sharing Successes
Georgia from Year 6 won 3 ribbons and a medal from horse riding competitions at Centura Riding School. She has been doing horse riding for 3 and a half years now. She won 1st, 2nd and 3rd in jumping sections over several days. Georgia won a medal for “Most Improved Rider”. She said that the opportunity of being able to be there on a horse doing the thing that she loves most and just having fun was really amazing but winning 4 awards was really unbelievable. Georgia can’t wait to win more awards and compete in the future. We wish Georgia good luck with her future competitions, but until then we just hope she keeps on doing what she loves!
Braxton, Maybelle, Alex, Carson, Aiofe, Carly, Lyla, and Ava from Year 4 competed in a netball grand final held on Saturday the 14 September at Bouncers. Their team came runners up and earned a trophy. Their team had a tough battle against the other team, and they tried their absolute best. They all said that it was a once in a lifetime experience, and they all had a lot of fun. We hope the Carramar Stars have a great Spring season!
Luca from Year 1 had a martial arts grading in the September holidays in which he earnt a yellow belt. He attends Premier Martial Arts. Luca has only been doing martial arts for about 1 month now! He does moity, boxing and karate. He said that he finds doing martial arts and getting stronger with knowledge and physical strength was really rewarding and now that he is a yellow belt he gets to learn even more. We hope that Luca strives for even greater achievements in the future
Senan from Year 3 will be performing in Legally Blonde The musical on 25 Oct 6pm. Keep up the great work and hope to see you in more musicals.
P&C Chat
Welcome back everyone. Is it just me, or has this term come around so quickly, it doesn't feel real? We hope everyone had a wonderful, safe holiday.
The P&C started off Term 4 in truly Extravagant Style! That's right.... you heard correctly! You may recognise some faces amongst the crowd of amazing people who attended a morning tea and tour of Parliament House. P&C President, Simone West, and P&C Vice President, Louise Graham, enjoyed a thoroughly enjoyable and informative tour, let by Sabine Winton MLA as well as networked with other P&C members in the Wanneroo area. We are excited to come back with new contacts and exciting ideas.
Coming up this term, we have some wonderful new community events as well as some old favourites. Parents, please make sure to check school bags for notes being distributed as the notes contain all of the important dates and information for each event or fundraiser (including cut off dates for form returns).
This month, on Friday 25th October, we celebrate teachers and school staff. The P&C co-ordinate a World Teachers Day Morning Tea to help celebrate and thank the Teachers and staff. We would love donations of sweet and savoury treats, delivered to the staff room, to thank the incredible staff at Carramar Primary School.
Term 4 will see the P&C offering a WHOLE SCHOOL Cadbury fundraiser. Each family will have the opportunity to sell family, friends, neighbours and workmates some tasty treats. Notes will go home in WEEK 4. Please remember to return the forms by the date allocated on the forms to ensure your order can be processed.
Our final P&C Meeting will be held on November 4th at 9am. All welcome and encouraged to join. We will be meeting in the Staffroom.
Term 4 is a busy term, so we would like to run a FREE DISCO so the students can have fun and let off some steam. Our WHITE NIGHT disco will be Friday 8th November. We encourage all attending to wear WHITE so you can shine ✨ Glow toys and fairy floss available to buy. K-PP 3.15pm (parents invited)Yr 1-2 4.15pm Yr 3-4 5.15pmYr 5-6 6.15pm
Christmas is zooming toward us. The P&C would love to organise a Christmas Hamper Raffle. If you have something you could donate, we will be receiving donations from the Front Office starting this week. If you have a business or you are crafty, please consider donating to this.
We are so excited to announce, we are running a "Carols by Carramar”! This will be on Friday 6th December from 5pm. Pop the date in your calendars now as we know how quickly December fills up. The Christmas Raffle will be drawn at this event, also. More information to come, closer to the date.
If you are looking to start your Christmas Gifts, the Year 5 parents are fundraising for Camp 2025. The parents are selling Wine from Donnelly River this term. Find yourself a year 5 parent and send in your order.
And finally, in Term 1, 2025 we will be hosting an Anniversary Celebration. If you have a business and you are interested in being a part of this Fete, please contact the P&C via email.
