Message from the Principal
Kaya Carramar Families
Thank you to all our "Dads of Carramar" and our P & C for a very successful Movie Night last Friday. I hope the special men in the lives of our children, had a wonderful day on Sunday and enjoyed all the spoils that came their way. Maybe you had the opportunity to get out and about with the family and enjoy our beautiful outdoors and the stunning wildflowers that are out at the moment.
The National Child Protection Week message that 'Every child in every community needs a fair go' is complemented this year with the theme 'Every conversation matters'. Conversations are powerful tools to keep children and young people safe and well. Conversations can help us understand issues, work out solutions, value community knowledge, and build strong social connections for our children.
This is a great prelude to next week when our Student Leaders, with support from Mrs Block, will acknowledge R U OK? Day. A conversation that starts with a simple question, “Are you OK?” could be a great start to helping someone, who might be struggling with one of life 's ups and downs. We can all make a difference in the lives of everyone, by ‘checking in’.
Thank you for discussing this important initiative with your children.
These strategies are also covered in our Protective Behaviours Program. Most families have received a copy of our Protective Behaviours Booklet for Parents.
Thank you for taking the time to go through this book with your children. It is important that we are encouraging our children to speak up and speak together to ensure they feel safe and heard.
National Education Assistant (EA) Appreciation Week sees us express our gratitude for all our EAs and recognise the impact they have on shaping many young minds. Their contributions may not always be in the spotlight, but they are often the backbone of many successful classrooms.
They play a vital role in supporting and fostering positive learning environments for our students. Whether it’s helping with general classroom management, assisting students with special needs, or undertaking administrative tasks, their contributions are invaluable. Their unwavering kindness and dedication, along with their unique ability to connect with and support our staff and students make them an extremely valuable part of our Carramar community.
To our amazing EAs: Shelby, Denise, Gayle, Donna, Kim, Jae-Maree, Natasha, Nicola, Kerry, Cheryl, Ute and Leigh, along with our regular relief EAs; Simone, Natalie, Mel, and our two Ashley/Ashleigh's, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for your devotion, patience and kindness.
As we continue with our sporting term, it has been wonderful to watch the incredible efforts of our Paralympians. It has been very humbling to hear what drives our athletes to rise above adversity and strive to achieve their dreams. The courage they demonstrate and how they use the power of sport to guide their rehabilitation and motivation for success is very inspiring.
Watching our students participate in the Faction Carnival (Take 2) yesterday and seeing how they supported their team mates to do their best was a wonderful celebration of sportsmanship, courage, and teamwork. There was a lovely calm to the day both on the oval and in the Early Childhood area, where the Pre-primary events took place, and it was wonderful to see our school community come together and enjoy such a fantastic day. Sincere thanks to all staff, who did an awesome job preparing our students. Thanks also to our P & C for keeping us fed and watered and special thanks to Mr Malatios and Mr Cox and our Early Childhood staff for putting it all together. (Photos elsewhere)

Joseph Banks Secondary College Space Science Centre – Invitation to listen to Katherine Bennell-Pegg - Australian Astronaut
Carramar students, Emma and Zachary were fortunate to be invited to participate in a special event to mark the opening of the new Western Australian Space Science Education Centre at Joseph Banks Secondary College. The guests, at this event, had the privilege to listen to a talk by Katherine Bennell-Pegg, Australia’s first astronaut to train under the Australian flag and be ‘space flight ready’. The presentation was very interesting and inspirational. The training and opportunities availed to astronauts was beyond what everyone could even imagine. During her talk, Katherine Bennell- Pegg prudently reminded us that, “A child sitting in a classroom today, will one day be the first human to step onto the surface of Mars!”
Let’s hope that one day, a Carramar student joins an international team of astronauts!

The Father's Day stall went off without a hitch. Each child seemed to love choosing the perfect gift for their dad or significant man in their life. The Movie Night was a collaborative event with the Dads of Carramar. Daddy Daycare was a huge hit and the families who joined in enjoyed a sausage sizzle dinner and some popcorn. It was a lovely evening that went off without a hitch. As a parent in the school, I personally found it such a wonderful event to be a part of. I met many new faces and had the opportunity to chat to different families before settling down to watch the show. Thank you again to the tireless workers behind the scenes, making sure the night was smooth and fun.
Thank you to the amazing bakers who always support these events. Your tasty treats are honestly professional standard. We must be the luckiest parents around, getting to sample your delectable delights.
We are looking forward to the Carramar Open Night, this Wednesday 4th September. We have your dinner sorted for you. Pre ordered Hamburgers or Hotdogs will be served at the canteen.
