Issue 8 2024
Message from the Principal
Kaya Carramar Families
It is hard to believe we are in the final 4 weeks of our first Semester of schooling in 2024.
Teachers have been very busy finalising Semester 1 Reports. These are formal documents that present your child/ren’s Progress and Achievement in all Learning Areas, as well as grades assigned to their Attitude, Behaviour and Effort across all aspects of learning. Thank you for taking the time to discuss your child/children’s Report with them – it is most important.
All Reports will be sent out via Connect on Friday 21st June – please ensure that you have Connect set up, so that you are able to access your child/ren’s reports. If you have any questions, please contact the front office.
Thanks to Ms Delcaro for being a good sport and participating in the recent First Aid courses with our students. We were a little worried that she was “sleeping on the job” but her student helper assured us that she was okay and was very thorough in ensuring she responded well to the assistance provided.
The Winter/Makaru rains have certainly arrived. Our gardens, water tanks and dams enjoyed the long-awaited soaking and top up. Hopefully the rain did not cause too many problems for you, over the weekend. No doubt our farming communities are very grateful as things are looking quite bleak in some of our farming areas.
On our 6 Seasons Circle, Makaru is represented by the colour dark blue, to symbolise rain and cold weather. It is a time for a lot of our native animals to be pairing up in preparation for breeding. If you look carefully, you might see pairs of 'wardongs' (crows/ravens) flying together. We will also start to see the Black Swan or 'Mali' prepare to nest and breed. Native flora that will start to emerge include the blues and purples of the blueberry lily and the purple flag flowers.
Thank you to our Uniform Coordinator, Andrea, for ensuring our uniforms are well stocked to keep us all warm and looking great. With our upcoming Photo sessions next week (and the week after), please take the opportunity to check in with Andrea if your children require any warm uniform extras. I must say the children are looking fantastic in their school jackets and jumpers.
If you haven’t yet done so, it is not too late to register for this year’s Premier’s Reading Challenge 2023. Follow this link for details. https://www.premiersreadingchallenge.wa.edu.au/ Not only is it a fun way to take up a reading challenge, but there are also many amazing prizes to be won! The challenge is to log 12 or more books before the end date. That includes books read at school and at home. Snuggling up with a great book is an excellent way to spend a few hours with your child/ren!
Speaking of reminders, the P & C have extended the closing dates for return of Sponsorship moneys to this Friday 7th June. Don’t miss the chance to be in the running to win a fabulous prize – there are some real beauties! See information further in newsletter.
We know the students (and staff) are looking forward to our annual Carramar’s Got Talent this Friday, showcasing the many creative talents within our school community. If previous years are anything to go by, I’ve no doubt the audience will be well entertained.Thank you to Mrs Block for coordinating this event and her team of judges for undertaking the difficult decisions associated with judging. Good luck to everyone! Keep an eye out for photos in our final newsletter for the term.
Thanks in advance for your support (Gold Coin Donation) of our Student Minister’s Fundraiser tomorrow. All funds raised will go towards the WWF, with a special focus for helping our native animals impacted on by the local fires last year. Children are invited to bring along a special “small” soft animal toy to sit quietly on their owner’s desks for the day.
Have a wonderful fortnight everyone. Keep warm.

Zac in year 2 got player of the match in soccer scoring 4 goals. He plays for Carramar Shamrock Rovers at Yanchep football grounds. He thought he did amazing and was so excited he got player of the match.
On the 11th of May, Honor, in year 3 won player of the match while playing for Saints Netball Club at HBF Arena. They had a very big win 16-1 and Honor played a position she doesn’t normally play. She even shot some goals and she was very proud of her effort.
Noah won Most Valuable Player in his basketball match. He scored 8 points; he got 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Noah played at Irene McCormack Catholic College and proudly played for the Lakers Basketball Club. He was very excited with his achievement.
St John First Aid Focus
Last week Carramar Primary had the pleasure of being visited by St John's First Aid Focus instructors. Students learned a range of knowledge about first aid response including emergency situation recognition, how to request and respond to emergency operators and DRSABCD First Aid appropriate to their age. It was great to see the enthusiasm and curiosity shown by many students across the school.
Thankyou students and thankyou St John First Aid Focus!

P&C Chat
We, the P&C, LOVE supporting Carramar Primary School.
When we run our fundraisers, we do it for two reasons! Our favourite reward is the smile of the students and Carramar community's faces.
Our purpose for the fundraising is to raise money to ensure we can put it back into the school.
Our current fundraising goal is to raise funds to pay for the subscription for each student in our school to have access to READING EGGS and MATHLETICS. For a school our size, this costs over $10,000.00 each year.
We truly believe it is a goal worth achieving. Supporting the students learning in such a way, gives each family the chance to see individual progress within the home, and the staff an online support to classroom learning.
We would love to thank the school for the most beautiful celebration of the P&C. P&C day was Friday 24th May, coming at the end of Volunteers Week. The school was kind enough to thank us at the assembly, with a beautiful choir performance , led by Mrs Malinovic. A delicious morning tea was held in the office, also. Thank you to the staff and 'Sweet Daisy May' for the treats.
