Issue 7 2024
Message from the Principal
Kaya Carramar Families
Congratulations to everyone involved in the recent Colourthon. Sincere thanks to our P & C for coordinating it all. The pictures certainly indicate what a wonderful afternoon it was. I am very sad to have missed it! The closing date for Fundraising is next Wednesday, 29th May 2024, and there are lots of great prizes to be won. Thanks in advance, we are very grateful for your collective support.
This week is National Volunteers Week, with the theme being Something for Everyone. On behalf of our staff and students, I would like to say a sincere “THANKYOU” to all members of our P & C. We are very grateful for all that you do to support our school. Your hard work to raise funds and support our teaching and learning programs is very much appreciated. You are an extremely hard working and dedicated group of awesome volunteers. Happy P & C Day for Friday 24th May.
Bravissimi Carramar! Thank you for supporting your students’ participation in the recent Education Perfect World Languages Championship. This event brings together students from across the globe to celebrate the joy of language learning. Our students are to be congratulated on their excellent result. “We finished 2nd place in WA! Urra!” Grazie Mille to everyone for cheering the students on”. Thank you to our Languages teacher, Signora D’Onofrio, for all your support and encouragement.
Thanks also to Mr Cox for coordinating the recent Constable Care and upcoming St Johns First Aid incursions for our students to complement their learnings in Health Education.
Our Kindergarten – Year 3's watched a presentation from the Constable Care team titled Fun Scary, which presented key concepts of protective behaviours, and our Year 4-Year 6 watched a presentation titled Trending, aimed at assisting students to understand the importance of online respect and consent, as well as the consequences of trolling and online abuse. Next Week the St Johns team will be visiting our school to provide essential first aid sessions to our students from Year 1 -Year 6.
It was a great privilege to see the talents of the Joseph Banks Senior College Music students when they performed for us last Thursday. It was especially pleasing to see many of our past students sharing their love of music, be that singing or playing a musical instrument. Watching three members of one family perform as a group was very special. I know Mrs Malinovic was especially proud.
This Sunday, 26 May, is National Sorry Day, a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generation Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation. This Friday at our Faction Friday Assembly, where the theme is Commitment, there will be a special presentation, in acknowledgement of this very important day. Thank you to Mrs McLeish for coordinating
National Reconciliation Week commences on Monday, 27th May and will continue until Monday, 3rd June. National Reconciliation Week is about acknowledging the past and finding a way forward together. Throughout next week our students will continue their learning about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, exploring how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. These learnings will bode well in assisting us as we continue to become a culturally responsive school.
In closing I would like to say a very special thank you to Ms Delcaro for leading the school in my absence, with fantastic support from Ms Morgan and the ladies in the front office. As we navigate through the current challenges associated with staff and students’ absences, our focus remains on your child’s daily learning program, and it is most pleasing to see how we are all working together to achieve this.
Have a wonderful fortnight everyone – keep well.

Year 5 Fremantle Prison Excursion
On Monday the 13th of May, the Year 5s went on an excursion to Fremantle Prison. We learnt about the history of the Fremantle Prison and convict life. We also got to experience the exercise yard and being in a cell. Students couldn't believe how hard life would of been for the convicts back then.

What amazing weather Term Two has had for us. In past years, Mother's Day stalls can surprise us with rain storms, wind storms, the occasional hail... but NEVER perfect sunshine. In addition to the perfect sunshine, the students smiles lit up our day. We love seeing the children choose their perfect gift for their Mum or mother figure. It is always such an immense pleasure to help the students at these stalls. Thank you to everyone who helped set up and sell at the stall.
Congratulations to the wonderful families who won a prize in the Mothers Day Raffle. A massive thank you to the wonderful businesses and families who donated prizes. If you were one of the lucky people who managed to get a prize, you would have seen the amazing array of gorgeous gifts donated for the special women around us. Prizes were donated from:

Who had fun at the Colourthon? We sure did. We had an amazing team of people who popped to the school early and helped to set up. Behind the scenes, we also had some brilliant ladies who offered their time to fill all of the colour bottles. We all had an incredible time, getting ready for the epic day. I don't know that I can pinpoint a favourite moment from the day. The joy of seeing the students faces when they ran through the misting tunnel, to the squeals of delight from the little pre primary children .... the day was a success. Another perfectly sunny day. Of course, we must mention the Teacher Dunk Tank. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the teachers had a ball. I know for a fact the students did. The dunk tank provided a beautiful opportunity to come together as a school community.
Please remember, the fundraising is still continuing. The highest earner in the school will win EITHER a Nintendo Switch OR an amazing Bicycle/scooter OR a voucher to the value of the Switch or bike. Closing date for fundraising is 31st May.
