Message from the Principal
Kaya Carramar families
Thank you to all students, parents, extended family members and staff who were able to join us at our commemorative ANZAC Assembly in Week 2. In addition to Jack LeCras’ very memorable address, we were privileged to have three generations of one of our family’s play The Last Post. It was certainly a very special morning.
Congratulations to all students for demonstrating great perseverance and persistence in the recent Faction Cross Country. There were some very close and exciting finishes. Thank you to all family members who were able to come along and provide support. The Interschool Cross Country team is being finalised. Students and families will be informed once the team is known
At our recent Faction Friday Assembly, we continued our focus on Social and Emotional Learning, especially that relating to Respectful Behaviour. Students engaged in discussions about ‘Bullying”: what it is & what it isn’t. We discussed this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDG1-BCZvTE You may enjoy watching this with your children.
We also discussed how to be “Responsible Bystanders”, and how to “Ask for Help” when you see a problem or have one that you cannot solve on your own.
Thank you for following up with your children and assisting them to demonstrate Respectful Behaviour and to always ‘Ask for Help” when they have a problem or see one. We are very proud of the reputation our school has and thank you for your ongoing support in modelling Respectful Behaviour and assisting your children to make respectful choices both in school and in the wider community.
The Premier’s Reading Challenge is a literacy engagement program established to encourage students to read more books, enjoy reading, and improve literacy levels.
The Challenge kicked off yesterday and will run until Friday 6th September. The aim of the Challenge is for students in Kindergarten - Year 10 to log 12 or more book titles that they’ve read in just over 4 months. That’s right—just 12! Mark your calendars. Log on and join in the fun with your children. https://www.premiersreadingchallenge.wa.edu.au Happy reading!
This week is National Road Safety Week and this Friday we acknowledge National Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD).
Now in its 25th year, WSTSD is an annual Community Event seeking to promote Road Safety, Health, and the Environment. Whilst the weather forecast for Friday is suggesting there may be some very welcome rain, perhaps you and your children could use the fine days of this week to walk / commute safely to school. We look forward to your support as a community, to promote this very important initiative.
In closing I would like to say a very special thank you to all our P & C Mums for their coordination of our annual Mother Day Stalls this week: Thursday 9th & Friday 10th May.
I’m sure all our wonderful mums, aunties, grandmas, nannas, great grandmas, grandnans and significant mother figures, will enjoy the special treats that are planned for Sunday, to say thanks for all their love and support.
Keep well everyone. Have a wonderful fortnight.

Sharing Successes
Georgia from Year 6 had a horse-riding competition at South Riding School in the recently past school holidays where she won a 3rd place ribbon for jumping and dressage. Georgia said that she felt stressed throughout the competition because she was having to perform in front of a large group of people. She said that it was a fun experience. We wish Georgia the best for any upcoming competitions.
Indi from Year 6 had a dance competition at WA Dance Expo last weekend, and she won the following: 2nd place for jazz and lyrical and also 1st in production. Indi said that it was such a fun experience, and she was so excited to get back on stage to dance with all her friends. She was very proud of her team’s results. We wish Indi’s team all the best for their next dance competition.
Maggie from Year 1, Ruby from Year 3, Henley from Year 5, Georgia from Year 3, and Mia from Year 5 competed at Ultimate Dance Comp. They attend the Schulz Dance Company. Maggie won a 1st and 2nd place trophy, Ruby won a 1st place, Henley received a medal for 2nd and 3rd, Georgia got 1st and 3x 2nd trophies, and Mia won 1st and 3x 3rd trophies. They were all very excited before and after the competition. They said that they were extremely proud of their accomplishments and achievements at the competition. We wish them all the best as they continue to perform in future competitions.
The Carramar Stars Netball team from Year 4 consists of 10 dedicated team members: Maybelle, Carson, Carly, Braxton, Ava, Alex, Ariah, Isla, Aoife, and Tayla (substitute). Together, the Carramar Stars have demonstrated fantastic teamwork, consistently learning (especially during challenging games) and working together to win several games. In March, the Carramar Stars won the Spring Junior Netball Premiership in an exciting finale that had parents and other family members on the edge of their seats. The finale was held at Bouncers in Joondalup. Ava was very happy and excited at the win, and she thought that the teams hard work paid off. Alex was excited and happy at how far the team had come. Well done Carramar Stars. Wishing you lots of luck for the Winter season.
C.O.W Project
The COW Project Team went to City of Wanneroo for a leadership day on Tuesday 29th of April. There were special guests including Mayor Linda Aitkin and many city counsellors. We all enjoyed our experience and learnt something new about conflict resolution and the different types of leaders. As well as learning new things, we all made new friends from different schools. Everyone especially enjoyed the activities, particularly the spaghetti building competition. Some lucky people including Blair and Nicholas got to be interviewed for the upcoming video representing our school. This year’s COW project in collaboration with Joseph Banks Secondary College is a new mural near the front gates about the connections of Lake Joondalup and Lake Mariginiup. We can’t wait to share what’s next with everyone!
