Message from the Principal
The school has been a little quieter over the past two days with our Year 6 students off site enjoying the challenges of Kerem Camp Adventures. I’ve no doubt some homes may be a little quieter too! Hopefully there has been some sleeping and a lot of fun being had as the students work hard to achieve success in challenges they may have not previously encountered. I enjoyed participating in their Colour Run and Tug- o- War yesterday afternoon and look forward to joining them tomorrow at Outback Splash for their final day of fun. Please see photos eslewhere in the newsletter of the adventures so far.
This week we are celebrating Harmony Week. Australia is one of the world's most successful multicultural countries and our cultural diversity is at the heart of who we are. Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, from the Traditional Owners of the land to our most recent arrivals, celebrating that no matter where we come from, we're united by the Australian values of freedom, respect, fairness, democracy and equal opportunity. Students from all year levels will be engaged in a variety of learning activities exploring the various cultures that make up, not only our school community, but our country as a whole.
We look forward to seeing you at our Harmony Week Assembly on Friday. Children in years PP-6 are asked to wear Orange on Friday and Kindy children to wear Orange on Wednesday (tomorrow), the colour of harmony, or traditional dress from their country, or their parent’s country of origin.
A very big congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 5 students for the manner in which they have embraced the annual National Assessment Plan for Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) since last Wednesday. The assessments will be finished by the end of this week and to date, all have gone off without a hitch! The data from these assessments will provide valuable local and nationally comparable information about literacy and numeracy achievement and will assist in guiding our teaching and learning programs for the remainder of the year for these cohorts.
Thank you to everyone for your support of our P & C Easter Raffle, with both your donations and your ticket purchases, and also our Carramar Dads Easter Egg Hunt on Tuesday 26th March at 5:30pm. All funds from both events will go towards various projects that the P & C are supporting. Major projects this year include additions to the Year 1 and 2 play area to extend creative play opportunities.
Tickets for the Easter Raffle will be drawn on Thursday 21st March.
As this is our final newsletter for Term 1, I would like to take this opportunity of thanking our school community for your wonderful support and wish everyone a safe and restful holiday.
Term 2 commences for students on Tuesday 16th April.
We sincerely thank Ms Tracey Roberts MP for presenting our school with a new Aboriginal Flag.

Leia enjoyed every moment, especially the swim! She crossed the line first of the girls. We are very proud of her fantastic effort and courage!

Friendly Friday Buddies
Year 1 Room 9 and Year 5 Room 12 meet each week for Friendly Friday Buddies as part of our whole school Friendly Schools program. We have been listening to each other read, helping the Year 1s logon to Mathletics and solve problems and now we are working on our Keynote presentations about each other. We are also participating in cooperative learning with our buddies and learning appropriate social skills.
