Message from the Principal
Kaya Carramar Families
Welcome to Term 4, and a special welcome to our new families.
I trust everyone had a wonderful relaxing break and we are all ready for an exciting term to wrap up what has been a fantastic year.
Our term has started well and we are certainly enjoying the warmer days of this beautiful Kambarang weather, although I think we may like a couple pf cooler ones now!
Our Jump Jam Teams are in their final days of practice before their performances this weekend. On Saturday, 21st of October our Jump Jammers will be competing in the State Jump Jam competition and we sincerely thank Mrs Pearce and her band of helpers (Mrs Camm and Mrs Vanderbroeck), along with our parents, for all their support and preparation. We wish our teams well for the weekend.
The Music Program at Carramar Primary gives our students unique opportunities to build self-confidence and express themselves creatively. Learning to play an instrument, sing in the choir, or be part of the band helps instil a love for music and teaches valuable skills. We are very much looking forward to our Music Assembly this Friday 20th October, with all students involved in our Instrumental Music Program demonstrating their learnings. Thank you to Mrs Malinovic for coordinating these performances
Next week, our beautiful library will be taken over by the Book Fair, on Tuesday-Thursday before and after school. Thank you to our wonderful Library Officer, Tammy Gordon, for her coordination of this annual event, and to staff and parents who have volunteered to provide support. I’ve no doubt the children will be keen to show you some of their favourites; they may even add them to their Christmas wish list. Your support of our Book fair is very much appreciated. All proceeds go towards increasing resources in our library.
Recent world events have led to some distressing online content finding its way onto screens and devices that our children are using. The eSafety Commissioner provides important guidelines and resources to help ensure that online spaces stay safe for everyone. Thank you for continuing to monitor your children’s online activity and for Keeping our Children Safe Online.
The excitement is certainly building for our fun-filled Carramar’s Got Talent. Thank you to Mrs Block for her coordination of this annual event. If you wish to take part, please add your name (Year 1-6) to the sign-up sheet (outside the Performing Arts Centre) by end of lunchtime tomorrow. Details as follows:

On Friday 27th October, Australia celebrates World Teachers’ Day: an opportunity to acknowledge and thank our amazing teachers and staff. Here at Carramar Primary we are blessed to have such a dedicated group of teachers and staff, who work so hard each and every day to support, nurture and challenge all our students.
If you would like to write a message of thanks to our staff (in the shape of, or on, a hat) please do so and return them to the office by Thursday 26th October. Our staff are very grateful for your support.
In closing, I would like to say a sincere thank you to Ms DelCaro for her leadership in my absence, and to all Admin and Front office staff for their support. I am looking forward to seeing everyone on my return.
Have a wonderful fortnight everyone

Chaplain's Corner
Kaya Carramar Community,
It’s so wonderful to see all your smiling faces back at school this week. I hope your school holidays were relaxing, adventurous, with many memories made.
My family and I had a very low-key school holidays for term 3. Was great to spend some quality time was my three kids. We had many of their friends come over for playdates and sleepovers. I very much enjoyed the beautiful sunshine that we had over those two weeks.
During the School holidays I was able to reflect whilst doing some term 4 planning. I realised that it has now been 2 years since joining Carramar Primary School. It has been a fabulous two years learning, educating and getting to know all the Students and Staff. I wanted to say how humbled and thankful I am to all the Carramar P.S families for allowing me to support your children. It has been a wonderful two years getting to know you all. Looking forward to seeing you all grow and exceed over the coming years.
Our last faction Friday we gave out a brand-new specialist merit award. The merit award goes to the classroom who displays the previous Faction Friday topic. So, we had “Responsibility” for our second last Faction Friday assembly of Term 3. I was very excited to give out the first Chaplains Award to Room 14, Year 6 for the outstanding efforts and demonstrating responsibility during the Master Chef project. Well done Room 14
Our last Faction Friday assembly for Term 3 was “Kindness”. This first Faction Friday assembly award went to Room S6, Year 2 for going above and beyond, supporting each other to settle back into class and routine. I loved hearing about your kindness activity and how you each shared kind and positive words with each other. Well done S2.
Next faction Friday’s award will be for “Respect”. Will be keeping my eyes on all classrooms to see who best demonstrates Respect.
On Friday I was invited to join the Year 6 Minister on an excursion to Parliament House. I enjoyed learning about the history of Parliament and how far it has come since Parliament for first established. Mrs Block arranged for us to meet with Sabine Winton and have a delicious 3 course lunch. Thankyou Mrs Block for inviting me to join you all on this exciting excursion.
Quote of the week: "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." – Martin Luther King Jr.
Parliament House
On Friday the 13th of October, our Carramar Student Ministers joined Mrs Winton on an unforgettable experience of going to Parliament House. We enjoyed an amazing three course meal and a small insight of what it’s like to be a politician. The Student Ministers got to sit in the Ministerial seats in the Legislative Assembly. While in the Lower House the students spoke with Mrs Winton about question time. Thank you to Mrs Block and Mrs Rodman for taking the Ministers on this once in a lifetime experience.
Year 3 Cockman House & Wanneroo Museum Excursion
On Friday the 13th of October, the year 3 children went on an excursion to Cockman House and Wanneroo Museum. This was a very special day for them because it was their very first excursion!
At Cockman House, Fab Gab talked to everyone about the local area and significant events that have taken place in the local area.
At Wanneroo Museum, the children looked at items from the olden days and had to work as a team to figure out what the items were used for. They also got to have a look around the museum and explore all of the wonderful items that have been collected over the years.
It was a fabulous day and a great learning experience for everyone. Thank you to the parent volunteers for joining us and helping to make the excursion possible.
Sharing Successes
Some of our Year 5 & 6 students played soccer in the Bunbury Cup for the Carramar Shamrocks during the school holidays. Elliot, Asa, Jake, Don, Aiden, Hayden, Eddie and Zack did very well. They went up against 7 teams and the team came third overall. They said they felt excited and nervous at the same time.
Jaxon from Year 5 competed in his first race of the season at Pinjar Park Speedway during the holidays. He raced his Box Stock kart and placed 2nd for the heat. Amazing effort Jaxon!
Over the school holidays several students from Schulz Dance Company competed at Elite Eisteddford and Dancelife Unite. Georgia from Year 2 won Champion Dancer for her age division at Dancelife Unite. Emily R and Mia B from Year 3 both won a Title Solo Award. Well done to Maggie from PP, Jackson from Year 1, Ruby from Year 2, Henley and Mia P from Year 4, Emily and Archer from Year 6 who all competed with amazing results!

Who popped down to the school last Saturday for their Democracy Sausage Sizzle or Bacon and Egg Burger? What a beautiful day it was to be out and about. Thank you to those who came by to support the P&C as well as enjoying a delicious meal. We loved seeing so many familiar faces.
An enormous thank you to the volunteers who set up, cooked, served and packed down. All done with a smile and a few laughs. The big and little volunteers gave up their Saturday to come and work their magic at the school and boy was it a fun day.
