Message from the Principal
Kaya Carramar Families
I trust you have all had an enjoyable fortnight.
Our Head Girl, Leigh- Ann, and P & C representative, Solveig, had the privilege of being invited to lay a wreath on behalf of our school at the Remembrance Day Service at the City of Stirling Civic Gardens yesterday. The service was conducted by the Naval Association of Australia, WA Section, Perth North Sub-section and Jack Lecras, special guest at our school Anzac Service this year, co-ordinated proceedings. Thankyou Chaplain Bonnie for coordinating this wonderful opportunity.
No doubt you have noticed our beautiful new addition on the wall at the end of Noonakoort Danjoo Block: 'Koodjal Dandjoo Kep Koorliny (Two Waters Coming Together) Sincere thanks to our 2024 City of Wanneroo Student Leaders, and Mrs Block. This project, in collaboration with JBSC students and Annette and Jerome provides a wonderful entrance statement and demonstrates further commitment to our ongoing connections and learnings of the Aboriginal heritage of our area. Our CoW students are very excited to present the journey of their work at the upcoming Showcase at Kingsway College on Thursday evening.
Congratulations to our 2025 Student Leadership Team. The students were presented to the school last Friday and will “shadow” our current Student Leaders for the remainder of the school year to learn more about their roles. They will be officially presented with their badges at our Celebration Assembly on Friday 6th December. Thank you to Mrs Block for her coordination of our Student Leadership Team and to Mr Malatios, Ms Malinovic, Mr Walton, Mrs Gordon, and Ms DelCaro for their ongoing support.

This week is WA Seniors Week 2024: a week to recognise the important role that older people play in our community and celebrate the contributions of older Western Australians. We are very privileged to have many of our students’ older family members involved with their education each day, whether that be daily drop off and pickups, helping in the classroom, listening to reading at school and/or at home and many other ways they support our students’ and their learning. I’m sure you agree that these contributions, large and small, enrich the lives of our children and our school community. We would like to acknowledge the importance of our Carramar Seniors this Friday at a Morning Tea in the Staff room. Thank you in advance to our P & C for their support.
At the other end of the age continuum, we also look forward to meeting our 2025 Kindergarten students, who will begin their Pre-Kindy Transition sessions this Friday, starting with “Stay & Play”. This is the first of three sessions, providing great opportunity for our new students to meet their peers and our Kindergarten staff and get to know a little bit about the Early Childhood area of our school and what life in kindergarten may look like.
At Carramar we are committed to providing quality education to all students in a safe, inclusive, and caring learning environment. We value working in partnership with our parents and families to provide our students excellent teaching and learning opportunities. Our Expectations are the cornerstone of our everyday language with our students, families and community members and help guide all our actions. We are Responsible; We are Respectful; We are Safe; We are Learners; We are Carramar Stars. Every student, staff member and parent/carer have the right to feel safe and respected at our school. The Department’s Connect and Respect initiative compliments the ethos of our school. It provides a set of guidelines that support the work of our school, and the shared responsibility of our school community to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all. Please take some time to read the attached Connect and Respect Guidelines.
With less than 5 weeks of school remaining in 2024, we are grateful for your continued support getting the children to school on time, ready to enter class and start their learning at 8.40am. However, we do ask that parents and children DO NOT enter the school via the staff car park prior to 8.20am. Please wait until the external gates at Kiss and Drive or the large double gates near the roundabout have been unlocked. Similarly, please do not come into the staff car park in your car to drop children off –both practices are very unsafe - there have been some very close calls recently. Thank you for respecting our procedures and keeping everyone safe.
Sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to this year’s Operation Christmas Child, coordinated by our wonderful Chaplain Bonnie. We believe the boxes prepared by Carramar families are destined for needy children in war torn countries who have lost everything because of ongoing conflict. I am sure they will be thrilled to receive your very thoughtful gifts.
Thank you to our very hardworking P & C for another successful Disco last week. I am sorry to have missed it. From all reports the children had a fantastic time and enjoyed dancing the night away under the special lights and having fun in their white outfits with their glo accessories. Thank you to all parents and staff who supported with supervision to ensure everyone was safe and had a great time.
In closing, a very big thank you to Ms DelCaro and Ms Morgan for managing the school in my absence last week.
Have a wonderful fortnight.

Sharing Successes
At the end of September, Mini from Year 6, and her team, won the Bunbury Cup for winning every game in soccer, while playing for the Carramar Shamrock Rovers. Mini was really impressed with how her team worked together as they won the tournament.
On the 25th and 26th of October, Caoimhe and Senan from years 5 & 3, participated in the play “Legally Blonde” at Dolphin Theatre. Caoimhe played a “Bookish Client” and Senan played “Deuey and Sundee”. They said it was a fun experience, and they would definitely want to do it again!
On Sunday, Lilly from year 2, won the ‘Competition Star Encouragement Award’ in her end of year dance concert held at Peter Moyes Theatre. Ella from Year 3 won the ‘Rising Star’ Award. They are both was a phenomenal dancers for Schulz Dance Company. Lilly said that she did fantastic and was super proud of herself and how she danced.
In early October, Leah from year 6 made it into the Bouncers Indoor State Netball Team. She played as a shooter and mid court. Now that she has made the team, she gets to play against other state teams. Her team is called Jades. She said she was so excited to have this opportunity in netball.
Congratulations to Dakota in Year 4 for achieving Pass with Honours in Grade 1 Piano for AMEB exams.
Outdoor Classroom Day
Room 13 enjoyed the opportunity to have a lesson outside in the glorious sunshine during Outdoor Education Day on Thursday November 7th. We started the session relishing the weather by silent reading then the year six students tested a game strategy they had learnt in maths on the year five students. In Chance and Probability, year six learnt a strategy to win the game ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’ which they tried out, with varying levels of success, on the year five students. We thoroughly enjoyed the chance to have some fun in the stunningly beautiful weather and grounds further investigating the topic of chance and probability. The year fives learnt the strategy even though some of them already had better odds with ‘luck’ than strategy.
School Sport WA Triathlon
" It’s been a busy few weeks for Carramar on the road. In Week 3, selected students from Years 3 to 6 represented Carramar at the School Sport WA Cross Country. The students who attended did an amazing job to train and reach the start line for this event, competing with students from our local area, as well as schools all over the state. In Week 4, Carramar attended the School Sport WA Triathlon competition held at Champion Lakes. The teams of Year 5 and 6 students competed in running, cycling and swimming legs of a number of triathlon events. For many of these students this was their first time competing in this type of event. It was amazing to see so many students display resilience in the face of nerves, excitement and competition. Well done to all students who attended both events, it was a great way to wrap up the carnival season for 2024. "
